“But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”

“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him.” Matthew 14:27-31

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:6-8

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets

the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. [25] Everyone who

competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a

crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last

forever.

1 Corinthians 9:24-25 (NIV)
